For many people, the COVID-19 pandemic meant staying at home and learning how to live under a new set of rules. For Rebecca Dervaitis Loch, it also meant finding creative ways to uplift organizations doing essential work in her community. A long-time supporter of Shelter Movers, Rebecca wanted to continue her partnership and provide additional funding for our work, understanding the services we provide are more critical than ever at this time.

With the cancellation of in-person events and the loss of the opportunity to host our gala, Rebecca approached Shelter Movers with a fundraising idea. She ran a campaign for six weeks in November & December 2020 in which she donated $100 from every mediation session booked through her legal practice, Dervaitis Loch Law Professional Corporation. “I hoped that people would take the initiative and contribute, or even just learn more about the organization,” said Dervaitis Loch, whose campaign was directly responsible for moving more than 12 survivors, their children and personal belongings to safety during the holiday season.
Rebecca began supporting Shelter Movers after attending our inaugural fundraising gala in November 2016. She become aware of our organization through colleague and friend, Meghan Hull Jacquin and our Founder, Marc Hull Jacquin. As the organization continued to grow, Dervaitis Loch Law Professionals Corporation purchased a table at our 2019 gala and Rebecca introduced clients and friends to Shelter Movers. “I’ve seen the success over the years, and it makes me happy,” she shared. Dervaitis Loch Law Professional Corporation have renewed their partnership year-over-year with Shelter Movers by sponsoring our events and raising awareness. Rebecca and her husband, Tim, have also continuously offered their own personal contributions.
“I hoped that people would take the initiative and also contribute, or even just learn more about Shelter Movers and tell others about the organization."
