“Our team is deeply rooted in community across the two provinces, working alongside local partners, agencies and volunteers to ensure survivors of gender-based violence can relocate safely and with dignity. Since launching in the Maritimes, we have grown significantly in both reach and impact and have expanded our volunteer base, strengthened referral partnerships and increased the number of families we are able to support each year. Looking ahead, we see continued growth, an expansion of our services into new communities and stronger partnerships. No survivor should ever have to choose between safety and their belongings.”

OUR APPROACH

Shelter Movers chapters in the Maritimes work solely by referral from shelters, victim services, social workers, and other frontline partners, integrating each move into broader safety plans for survivors. Volunteer teams coordinate with police, locksmiths, storage providers, and housing partners to complete trauma‑informed moves. Across our Maritime chapters, ourmodelleverages local businesses, community agencies, and donors to deliver high‑impact services on a lean budget, ensuring that every move protects safety, preserves dignity, and supports a life free of violence.
